Cork underlay is an essential part of a healthy and reliable layout! Simply roll and pin/glue down the cork underlay, then secure your track on top. The cork base provides flexibility for scenery, as well as giving an essential cushion for your locomotive running. The cork base is able to absorb vibrations created by the running trains and thus reduce noise volume and unrealistic sounds allowing just for the clickity-clack of the wheels on the track to be heard! The use of cork is valuable in levelling out your baseboard, giving smoothness to any sudden bumps or height changes where baseboard sections join, it reduces derailments and makes the whole running of your trains much smoother.
